The Doors! Or Notting Hill In Winter If You Like

Notting Hill Doors

Good morning everyone! Do you remember my post about finally getting a flat after long weeks of looking for it? Back then I told you that East London probably suits me better than the posh area of Kensington, right?? Well, as much as I love my East End (because I genuinely do!), winter (and spring!) walks around Notting Hill almost make me want to change my mind!

Notting Hill

On Boxing Day morning, after having breakfast at Le Pain Quotidien (the most epic pastries and the most horrible coffee if you ask me! Please someone teach them how to make flat white…) I thought I’d have a look around. I was walking… and walking… and walking… and I couldn’t get enough! Notting Hill has that unique ability of mixing the old and new, luxurious and alternative, contemporary and traditional… and that’s what I love about it. The whole place… it’s just sooo gorgeous! These rows of adorable houses with colourful wooden doors which surely contribute to its charm… old-fashioned shops along Portobello Market, tiny bakeries and cafes… they all make Notting Hill absolutely wonderful. And now, with Christmas wreath on every other door it looks like a town from a fairy tale! I seriously struggle to express how much I adore the place, it’s just too stunning to be real! Oh well, I also remember saying ‘see you in the New Year’ in my previous post but come on, these are just too adorable not to be shared! So now I will do you a favour and kindly shut up to let the pictures speak for themselves!

This is a really nice post. I am all the way out in Korea and it makes me miss home. Beautiful pictures!

    • Awww, thank you so much! <3 Korea sounds super exciting to me, must be much different from England- hope you enjoy it there! Have a Happy New Year- can't believe it's almost 2017! x

  • oh gosh the door are really pretty, I love the look of a grey, yellow or purple door. Especially nice is the blush turquoise one. Were we live everyone in our village is required to have the same boring red doors. I think we need to move 🙂

    • Oh come on, how can you call red doors boring?! They must be super cool from what I imagine! But then again, it’s a different thing to want red door yourself and to be forced to keep it that colour I suppose… a very unusual requirement anyway, is there any other than aesthetic reason for that? You made me really curious now! x

These are so cute. I live in an area in New England where most of the towns are old mill towns. The houses are maintained but definitely nothing like this. I love how each has its own personaility.

    • Oh, I bet your area is very charming, too, old towns have something very unique to them. But yeah, Notting Hill is a really nice area when it comes to architecture, I can’t deny it! x

  • Elizabeth O.

They have the most beautiful doors! I would love to see this sight walking to work every morning. It’s really going to brighten up your day!

  • Katja Knox

I used to live in Notting Hill when I lived in London – by pure chance! My friend had a flat there when I moved to the UK and her flatmate was just leaving as I was coming in. I was pretty lucky. From there I moved to Marble Arch and from there to the great North. I remember loving Notting Hill though, all the colours and the vibe in general. You’re making me miss London now 😀
    xxx

    • Notting Hill and Marble Arch?! Lucky you! I’ve lived only in Camden, Brixton and Tower Hill so far… but who knows? 😀 I did the North once too (Shropshire) but I wasn’t a huge fan of it if I’m perfectly honest (I bet it depends on the area). Anyway, whenever you feel like visiting the big smoke, feel invited! 🙂 xxx

  • Rebecca Swenor

Notting Hill looks like an amazing place to live. I love the different colors of the homes and doors along with the different styles. Thanks for sharing these amazing photos.

    • Thank you for your comment Rebecca, it does look charming doesn’t it. Wouldn’t mind moving there either, haha! 🙂 x

  • They are all beautiful but my most favorite is the yellow one. It looks vintage-y and stunning!

  • Daniel rovira

Fluently written and excellent photography to match

  • I wish I did, haha 🙂 For the moment though a price and size of properties there makes me choke! But yeah, it’s no doubts pretty 🙂 x
