‘…Only Know You’ve Been High When You’re Feeling Low…’

feeling low

I’d love all of my posts to be super inspirational, motivating and happy. But life is not always like that and it’s ok. It’s normal. It keeps things balanced. Therefore today I wanted to post this picture where you can probably tell I’m not wearing any makeup and I look pretty tired- I don’t mind. I’m not a robot and I’ve learned to accept it. I do have my weaknesses- who doesn’t? The last couple of weeks I’ve been the least creative version of myself you could ever imagine. And I was desperately thinking: ‘What am I going to blog about?!’- I literally moved from a hundred ideas per minute to no ideas at all. I’m not going to fight it anymore thought, instead, I’d like to tell you: it’s alright to feel a bit down. Sadness is a normal state, not less valuable than positive feelings. When I feel like that, what keeps me alive and brings me back to my happy place is music. In this post I’d like to share with you the tunes I listen to when I’m sad. Whenever you feel that the world collapsed on your shoulders, give them a go to remind you you’re not alone. I’ve been there. We can take this journey together.

There we go:

10. Fire and rain (1970), James Taylor

9. Iris, Goo Goo Dolls

8. Cause, Rodriguez

7. Bittersweet symphony, The Verve

6. The rest of my life, Less Than Jake

5. Let her go, Passanger

4. Valerie (slow version), Amy Winehouse

3. I need my girl, The National

2. How to save a life, The Fray

1. The way I tend to be, Frank Turner

What about you? Do you have your special songs to help you survive the blues?

Music is the best medication for a bad mood.
Many of your favourite songs are also mine, additionally, I'd put on the list also:
Gary Jules – Mad World http://bit.do/b8jbL
Keane – Somewhere Only We Know http://bit.do/b8jbT
    Israel Kamakawiwo'ole – Over The Rainbow & What A Wonderful World http://bit.do/b8jb4

  • Thanks for taking the time to drop a line, Leslie. Although I'm sorry to hear about the way you feel, it's somehow comforting to know that I'm not alone. I am lost, I am tired, I struggle to enjoy things… June is just a difficult month for me. But then, the music works its magic and gives some emotional outlet which sometimes is all we need. It may not give us all the answers but it does help a lot. Hope you feel better tomorrow,

    Mal x

P.S. Amy in here, too 😉

I love these. I'm having one of those days today, I feel so lost but for now I'll just listen to more Winehouse & Goo Goo Dolls.

  • Great playlist!

  • I have a lot of memories with their songs and probably that's why they mean more than other pretty tunes.

  • Thank you 🙂

I love a lot of these songs! I listen to the goo goo dolls when I'm sad too.
